Glass Safety Guide

The right glazing in the right place is an essential aspect of our safety and enjoyment of life both at home and work.

Queen's Park Glass always adheres to the latest standards and official guidelines governing all aspects of glazing safety. The regulations relating to glass installations in critical safety areas are especially important, and are outlined in the following brief summary.

A. Critical Safety Areas

Certain areas of internal and external walls are considered 'critical locations' in terms of glazing safety, and require the installation of glass that meets various minimum safety standards. These critical glazing locations are:

  • Between the finished floor level and 1500 millimetres above that level in doors (as indicated by the orange guides in Diagram 1 below) and also in side panels which are within 300 millimetres of either side of the door (as indicated by the green guides - in conjunction with the orange guides - in Diagram 1 below)
  • Between the finished floor level and 800 millimetres above that level in the case of walls, partitions and windows (as indicated by the purple guides in Diagram 1 below
  • Mirrored doors and panels
